a new moochi denim story has launched in stores today and we're really excited to introduce these new styles into our range just in time for winter.

denim continues to be one of the cornerstone fabrics in every woman's wardrobe, in a love affair with fashion that's lasted decades. the journey has seen denim go from working man's uniform to casual wardrobe piece and finally come full circle to be more accepted again in the workplace - this time as part of a modern woman's 9-5 look.

we're not suggesting that all corporates should begin wearing their favourite distressed denims to important client meetings, but we do acknowledege that just as denim has finally found a place in the traditionally haute-couture runway shows of late, so to has it been embraced increasingly as a verstatile option for workday dressing for creatives, marketers, teachers, hospitality workers and fashion industry professionals. and it's about time!

our new moochi denim styles have been designed to fit this need for versatility. they are the perfect wardrobe staples for winter, and can be dressed up with a stilhetto heel and blazer for a morning meeting or paired with your favourite kicks for a weekend at home with family and friends.

the john jean

one of the most coveted denim styles of right now, the boyfriend cut, has been given the moochi treatment and the result is one must-have pair of jeans in two must-have colours for the new season – vintage blue and fresh white. this is a new signature moochi denim style to see you through the seasons, the john jean is a classic boyfriend cut that is worn best with a slouchy fit, sitting on the hip with cuffs rolled up. wear them all weekend with a casual sweater and leather kicks or dress them up for a lunch date with the veer shirt and lethal boot.

work, rest or play, the john jean is a multi-tasking master for everyday dressing. the relaxed fit makes it a comfortable option for anything you have planned and it's designed to suit most figures. we think this new moochi style will be the perfect addition to wardrobes of denim devotees everywhere.

the staple skirt

the denim staple skirt completes the story in a figure-skimming style that looks amazing paired with oversized sweaters and boots for off-duty. finishing just below the knee, this is a great, girly alternative to your favourite jeans for relaxed winter style. looks great with the lamby sweater and killer boots for a relaxed day look.

for inspiration on how to wear denim off-duty, or how to make it more 9-5 appropriate, check out how some of our favourite fashion ladies work denim into their wardrobes:

last week, moochi marketing manager kim draper visited melbourne for the virgin australia melbourne fashion festival business series. here's her diary of the food and hot spots that were the highlight of her week in this beautiful australian city.

having not visited for a few years i had forgotten why it remains the undisputed heart of australia's cultural scene. we were only there for a couple of days but we managed to get around some of the hottest hangouts.

we stayed at the adelphi hotel on flinders lane, which appeals to both those with artist flair and those with a sweet tooth. the adelphi boosts one of the most spectacular rooftop pools in melbourne (probably best viewed in high-summer, it was a little sad by late-march) combined with an endless supply of sweets and treats to keep your suagr levels at an all time high, here you can't help but have a good time.

straight across the road from the aldelphi is supernormal, offering an interpreation of chef andrew mcconnell's favourite asian eating experiences from his years working and living in shanghai and hong kong.

our fav picks from the menu include the duck bao and the szechuan lamb witth spring oinion pancake & coriander paste. you must finish with a mouthful (or two) of the peanut butter parfait, salted caramel and soft chocolate - yum!!

we were recommended cumulus inc for breakfast, celebrating the historic turn of the century rag trade building in which it is located, the space is a busy social hub offering andrew mcconnell’s acclaimed food. breakfast is done simple but delicious from the coconut rice with fresh mango and lime to the full english, with farmhouse slab bacon and smoked tomato.

being fans of pan-asian food we couldn't go past chin chin, happy that we didn't make too much effort to change time zones we were ready for dinner at 5:30pm, any later and we would have had to join the growing queue that started by 6pm - on a monday night no less. happy to be greeted by a cheerful waiter originally hailing from napier, he quickly gave us his list of recommendations which included the sweet corn fritter balls and duck pancakes, we were not disappointed!

another short walk (down this time) from the adelphi is the grain store. the grain store is a throwback to the days when many buildings in the area were used as holding stores for shipments – combining a passion for heritage and food that is rich in tradition and lovinlgly prepared. offering food the way it was meant to be enjoyed – nutritious, healthy, and always delicious. with a big day ahead, both of us honed into the portobello mushroom & gruyere potato rosti with poached eggs and hazelnut hollandaise - it tasted as good as it sounds.

to finish our melbourne culinary tour we ventured out of flinders lane and up to carlton to the town mouse, helmed by christian mccabe from the matterhorn - an institution in wellington and recently opened in auckland. combining good food, good drink, good design and humble hospitality, it's an experience well worth venturing across town for. having not eaten since our indugent eggs at breakfast, we were ready to devour the menu. we knew we were in for a treat when the complimentary bread and butter arrived which was quite possibly the best bread i've ever tasted.

followed by the goat’s cheese profiterole, caraway, thyme & honey - they were little balls of deliciousness. for mains we shared the snapper and the lamb. we thought it would be rude not to try a dessert so we shared a strawberry, black grape, lychee & macadamia tart - OMG!! we felt like food critics as we were all exclaiming about the three levels of flavour this humble little tart gave - every bit even more delicious than the first.

over summer, the moochi team fell in love with the storm & india tea sisters range. we were first drawn in by the beautiful pastel packaging, but once the tin was opened and the tea was brewed, we found that what was inside more than lived up to the expectations set by the cover of this book.

these clever 'tea sisters' storm and younger sister india, specialise in creating bespoke teas from organic tea plantations. they say their teas bring peace, calm and joy into life. that they rejuvenate the body and the mind, promoting good health and wellbeing. and well, who wouldn't want a bit of that in their day?

ahead of the moochi autumn COLLECTION launch and storm & india in store tea tastings, we caught up with storm to photograph her in her picks from the new collection and find out more about what's in store for storm & india this season.

my personal style is...

welcome to the new order – a shift in colour and mood for the new season that explores 90s rock culture, utilitarian street style and south-west bohemia in a capsule collection of 17 modern autumn looks.

NEW // ORDER brings together a sense of nomadic, south-west style with its suede fringing and oversized poncho-style cape, mixed with the utilitarian aesthetic of a khaki colourway and organic cotton drill pieces. but while partly military-inspired, the new collection has been designed to stand out rather than blend in, with elevated detailing and luxe fabrics.

within the collection, hard fabrics are softened with delicate, gold bead detailing and silk dresses in an exclusive abstract snake print; traditional south-west blanket-inspired knits are elevated in a luxe cashmere blend; and an exclusive metallic gold jacquard takes the humble bomber jacket to a place of chic opulence.

bringing the street style worthy collection to life, the NEW // ORDER campaign was styled and photographed by fashion blogger jessie bush, from we the people.

the new collection is supported with a range of complementary jewellery and accessories in leather, felted wool and antique brass hardware, including a new ankle boot for the season, the fold boot, created in a black nubuck with tassle zip detail.

NEW // ORDER launches in store and online at moochi.co.nz friday 27 february, with a limited edition backpack inspired by the collection gifted with every purchase.

blame it on valentine's day, but right now we're coveting romantic outfits with a feminine feel that make you feel a little 'dressed-up' and special from the moment you slip them on.

one style in particular having this effect on us is the classic a-line midi skirt. it's one we've seen as many a polished street style look of late, as pictured below, and one we think would be equally as perfect for a valentine's day date, morning meeting or with a casual take for sunday brunch.

we love how blogger zanita whittington has embraced the midi skirt as a on-duty or off-duty option - paired with pointed stilettos and knitted sweater for a sophisticated look or dressed down with a button up shirt and sneakers for hitting the streets.

get this look with our new oracle skirt - a chic, a-line skirt with panel details and side seam pockets, this is a feminine and flattering mid-length skirt shape that has fashion followers everywhere. cut in the same drill fabric as the popular tidal pant, this skirt has a sporty feel that can be dressed up or down with the leather kicks or a statement moochi heel.

this week, jessie bush’s sartorial voyage of new zealand continues. from the picturesque queen charlotte sound at the tip of the south island across the cook strait to wellington and on to the kapiti coast, over the past few days jessie has captured some of her favourite moochi high-summer pieces (some arriving in stores today) while enjoying the local hospitality of luxury lodges of new zealand and taking in the sights and sounds of a lush countryside in the height of summer in the moochi x renault clio.

follow @wethepeoplestyle and @moochi_nz on instagram to follow the #moochiclioroadtrip as jessie continues her journey up the north island and see where she gets to next.

"dining water-side and watching boats sail past  the private jetty at bay of many coves resort in queen charlotte sound."

"enjoying some sunshine by the pool with the moochi beach towel at the beautiful bay of many coves resort."

deep in the marlborough sounds, with a private jetty and world class cuisine, bay of many coves resort is a slice of paradise on the water’s edge with 5-star accomodation and facilities.

en route to wellington in the moochi x renault clio - the monochrome animal print pairs back perfectly with the black halt maxi for a relaxed yet chic holiday look. note: shoes pictured above are jessie's own.

this car could be yours - find out how you could be driving around in your very own moochi x clio here.

wellington city on a beautiful, blue-sky day.

what’s a new zealand summer without fresh hydrangeas? pictured in moochi lane on a quick visit to say hello to the wellington moochi team.

on the west coast of the lower north island, greenmantle estate on the kapiti coast is a peace-seekers dream. in lush green surroundings, this is a magical spot with everything you need to rest and rebalance – a highlight of the kapiti region.

inspired by the criss cross neckline of the popular moochi lattice dress from winter 14, the trace dress (pictured above styled with jessie's own skirt) is a light summer cotton stripe knit dress that can be worn with neck detail at the front or back, making it a great off-duty summer dress option.

the pool at greenmantle estate is the perfect spot to kick off your shoes and take a dip. pictured here are the moochi leather kicks (coming soon).

"lush greenery has been certainly been a running theme on this trip – the nikau forest (pictured) at greenmantle estate was a welcome spot of calm after a quick catch up with wellington city."

one of the many idyllic garden spots at greenmantle estate to enjoy a quick lunch and refreshing long white vodka.

with racer back sport styling, the sleeveless cher dress is a modern off-duty dress to update your relaxed summer wardrobe. with a straight fit through the body and an assymetrical hem, this dress looks great on its own with your favourite sneakers or chain sandals, or worn under a loose white shirt. styled above with the moochi chained hat (coming soon) and jessie's own shoes.

"back on the road, we couldn’t resist this blue building for a photo op stop in the moochi lead tee and leather kicks."
