as part of our moochi people series, we caught up with Lauren, our production assistant. chatting about her journey with us thus far and her favourite palette four picks
QUESTION ONE
tell us a little about your moochi journey
my moochi journey started part time at moochi heights, back home in christchurch, whilst completing my three year fashion degree at ara. earlier this year I was required to complete a four week internship for my degree and decided I wanted to complete this with moochi. I flew up to auckland and worked in the design pod for four weeks, shadowing the production assistant at the time, and I had a really positive experience.
a few months later I received a call from the design pod, offering me the role of production assistant. knowing what a great opportunity this was, and having moochi’s support in completing my degree remotely, made the decision an easy one. I have now been in this role for just over two months and although it has been hard work studying and working full time, I am loving it and am so grateful to have been offered the opportunity to further progress my career with moochi
QUESTION two
what does a typical day in your life look like?
a typical day in my life varies a lot, which is great as it means most days are different. My main focus is ensuring product gets to each step in our production line on time. this includes ordering trims, creating care labels, and working closely with our suppliers, makers, and pressers. I also oversee the returns process here at moochi, and work with several talented small businesses who help me bring life back to your well loved moochi products
QUESTION three
how do you describe your style, and what inspires it?
my style has always been a way for me to express myself and a good outfit plays a big part in my confidence and how I feel. I am usually drawn to mixing contemporary pieces with pieces that have an edge or difference to them. I am inspired by the combination of feminine and masculine aesthetics, whether that be with the silhouettes or playing with different fabrications. I love experimenting with clothes and just wearing what makes me feel my best. after all, fashion should be fun!
QUESTION four
what do you love about moochi clothes and how they make you feel?
I love moochi because we do a variety of contemporary tailored pieces while also incorporating feminine design, with every piece being easy to wear and to style in different ways, which I think is key to a good wardrobe. I also love how moochi plays with lots of different fabrications and prints, which is a part of fashion that also really excites me. I am always looking forward to seeing what cool prints, fabrics, and colours are planned for upcoming palettes
QUESTION five
what are your palette four must have pieces, and why?
my favourite pieces from palette four: natura have to be the furthest pant, trooped shirt, and the emblaze jacket with the matching glowed pant. I love playing with tailored pieces and I think these are such cool, effortless, transeasonal pieces to have in your wardrobe. I also love the fasten platform slide for summer as I am a big advocate for a chunky boot. so this is a great alternative for those warmer months when I still want to wear something edgy but be a little bit more practical for summer
in loving memory of lauren hemens, a much loved colleague, collaborator and friend. a huge talent and beautiful soul, forever a part of our moochi family. xx
